To create your master fiducials used for BGA and QFP component families open "Tools > Options" in the upper left.

2. Select Fiducials

Note: Fiducial modifications will globally update all Fiducials used for fine pitch Ball Grid Arrays and Quad Flat Packages. However, most assembly shops have advanced equipment and do not require Local Fiducials built into fine pitch footprints. Ask your assembly shop if they require them.

Rotation is primarily used with a Square Shape fiducial to change the shape to Diamond.

6. Density Level

Note 1: The minimum pad size is 0.50. The solder mask diameter should be twice the size of the pad. This is because solder mask is a reflective material and when the bombsite light shines on the fiducial, you what to eliminate light reflection from the solder mask. The Outer Layer Keep-out size is the same as the solder mask size to keep all copper out of the area near the local fiducial.

Note 2: The 3 density levels allow you to have different size fiducials to aid the assembly process.

Most (default values)

• Pad Size - 1.00
• Solder Mask Size - 2.00
• Keep-out Size - 2.00

Nominal (default values)

• Pad Size - 0.75
• Solder Mask Size - 1.50
• Keep-out Size - 1.50

Least (default values)

• Pad Size - 0.50
• Solder Mask Size - 1.00
• Keep-out Size - 1.00

7. File > Save

When you are finished editing the local fiducial values, save you .opt file
