Not all pads in a component are transferred to a Diptrace component.
If I select a QFN part (eg PQFN50P500X500X40-33) and click on "Build Selection" to create a library and import this into the Diptrace Pattern Editor, I only get the top and bottom rows of pads. The pads on the sides and the thermal pad are not imported.
I have just used the defaults when building the library. I have tried building to other PADS formats, but this did not change anything noticeable.
I am using version 2.3.1.0 of Diptrace.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

This turned out to be a bug in DipTrace.

See here http://www.diptrace.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=9060&p=13765#p13765

Also only PADS ASCII import from 2005 and 2007 has been tested with DipTrace.
