I have been tasked with doing a comparison between our company component library for a few device types (our own .dat file we have changed from IPC standard over the last several years to fit our mfg requirements) and that of IPC directly.

However I do not see how to reset the Default Preference Source back to "IPC Internal Defaults".

How can I reset it? It will not allow me to type in the preference field to change the name or location of this source file.

And I do not know where the program has located the "IPC Internal Defaults" .dat file on my computer.

I have the latest version installed 2016.10

In the Preferences menu select "New" to go back to IPC-7351B

In Preferences menu select "Open > IPC-7351C Proposal.dat" to open the new standard.

The default Toe, Heel and Side values for both standards are located in this Library Expert folder:
C:\Program Files (x86)\PCB Libraries\Library Expert 2016\Documents
  • IPC-7351B Solder Joint Goal Tables v1.3.xlsx
  • IPC-7351C (Proposed) Solder Joint Goal Tables v1.3.xlsx
You can open these spreadsheets to do a side by side comparison.

You can always change the Toe, Heel and Side values to whatever your manufacturer requires.
