For whatever reason I often lose my license during a session. Is there some way to force it to check out the license again without relaunching the software?

I'm usually adding new parts so they aren't in the FPX and I end up losing all the work on that part which is a huge waste of time.

I don't have this issue with PADS but it uses a different license tool and is also hosted on a different server.

If this is an older installation, you may have to update your Sentinel Drivers.

PCB Library Expert Pro is version 2015.11, Sentinel runtime is 7.32.1.52786.

I only get repair or remove options with the installer so it seems that I already have the latest version supported by LIbrary Expert.

There is a newer version, 7.41 Released 2015-10-07, on the Sentinel/HASP website but I have not tried that one.

Does the checkbox for license checkout in the 'installed options' dialog actively release or acquire licenses? It didn't seem like it did but that would be more convenient than restarting the application.

Licenses are checked out when the LE Pro is started, and checked back in when it is closed. The checkout checkboxes in the installed options determine how the LE Pro checks out the licenses available on startup.

Please include option to check license after launching the program

We'll consider options for this, but not sure on the flexibility we have as SafeNet / Gemalto is the license key supplier and we must work within their framework.

It seems like maybe I'm not actually losing my license. I can often save parts but I had been exiting to make sure that I didn't save a partial FPX or any other strange behavior.

I routinely get a message stating 'The license server has encountered an problem: ContainerNotFound' either immediately on launch or at some point during a session.

Is there anything that I can do to gather additional information on this error and track it down? If it occurs on launch I am locked out of the tool which is very frustrating.

Hi, if you're on an older version of the Library Expert, you should consider upgrading so you are on the most optimal/compatible version of the drivers. As Microsoft rolls out updates/hotfixes, so does Gemalto/SafeNet, and if you're on an older version, it makes it that much harder to replicate/troubleshoot. Having said that, based on your description of the issue, it looks like the key is periodically disconnecting. Could be a bad USB port, or cable if you're using a USB extension cable. It can also be an issue with an older driver, I recommend using the latest available from here: http://www.pcblibraries.com/products/fpx/userguide/default.asp?ch=71

Regards,
Nick

The version of the driver you linked is 7.32 from April 2015 which matches the version currently installed. Our key is being served over the network by a Linux machine and I don't know what version of the server it's running. We're trying to consolidate our license servers to a single windows machine so maybe that's one that we need to look at as well.

Anyone know if sentinel on Windows requires Windows Server or can Windows 7 Pro run it?

The latest (tested) run-time we have for Windows is 7.41, and this works on Win10 as well.

I don't see any issue with moving the Network License from a Linux box to a Windows one, let's discuss offline any issues you might have.

Regards,
Nick
