If you create a pad stack in Footprint Designer and select the "Done" button the software exits without saving any of the pad stacks.

You have to add the pad stack and then press the "Done" button.

Can you please add a message if you press the "Done" button and did not add the pad stack to save the pad stack or exit?

Thanks,

Lenny

If you create 10 pad stacks in FP Designer and only use 3 in your library part and then select the "Done" button, the program will auto-delete all unused pad stacks as a clean up routine.

Is this a problem? We thought it was a nifty feature.

Maybe but if you create one and hit done without adding it you loose the pad stack.

Why would you spend the time to create 10 pad stacks if you are going to use only 3?

OK, let me rephrase...

You can create as many pad stacks in FP Designer that you want, but the program will only keep the pad stacks that you use.

My recommendation is that you place one of each pad stack in the library part prior to selecting the "Done" button and then the program will not delete them.

Note: the V2015 FP Designer will have automatic silkscreen trimming in the first release. i.e.: the silkscreen will no longer move out when you place a SMD or IMD pad stack. Rather it will auto-trim around the pad. Really cool feature that no other CAD tool or library Wizard can do.

Maybe we are talking two different things.

I create a new footprint. Create the outline then go to the FP Designer and create a pad stack.

I press the "Done" button and, since I did not add it, it gets deleted.

Why not just add a message that the pad stack was nor saved?

OK, we're going to add a new feature in V2015.01 that provides a warning message when you select the "Done" button and you have unused pad stacks.

The warning will state that you have unused pad stacks that will be deleted if you continue.

This will give you the opportunity to Abort the unused pad stack removal or continue if you want the program to removed unused pad stacks.

We cannot allow unused pad stacks in the FPX file.
