Hi! I'm using PADS Layout and can import from PCB Library Expert to PADS, but I'm having problems with importing to PCB Library Expert from PADS. How do I do that?

Regards,
Linnea

The Library Expert does not import from the native CAD formats back into FPX format. The Library Expert maintains data in a CAD neutral FPX format, as well as user preferences (DAT files) and when you need to rebuild your libraries to a different format, or with different settings, it's a snap.

I'm using PADS Layout version 9.4.

You can use the new V2014.04 PADS to CAD Translator to convert PADS files to any other CAD tool, but you cannot import any CAD Tool Library data into Library Expert.

Library Expert auto-generates footprints on two pieces of data -

  1. Component Dimensions
  2. User Preference Rules

Your PADS Layout library does not have either of these two items.
