Could do it easily, I bet, if I knew how to make a pad that was only on the bottom, but that's another thing I can't figure out.

Any help on this, Tom?

Thanks,
DickMS

We missed rolling this out in the V2013 release.

We'll have to add this feature in V2014.

I need to discuss this simple issue with the programmers.

Sounds good... BTW, you might want to get them to figure out a way to make the footprints you create be editable in the OrCAD PCB Editor, since that would make a lot of final cleanup really much easier... For instance, the paste masks that PLX made for my IRFH4253 were considerably different from the manufacturer's recommendation, and I had to edit the scripts to get them made correctly. Editting the scripts also made the notched pad that PLX couldn't create out of the chamfered one it could. I've attached a picture of the final result - even when PLX can't do something, it's useful to get close, and hand edit from there!

Thanks again, for all your help!

Oh, and one final question: When I copy a footprint from one fpx library to another, it loses almost all of the ancillary data - like manufacturer, part number, description, etc.... Is this by design? It would be great not to have to re-enter everything.

We decided to roll this new feature out in V2013.19 FP Designer.

If you need it right now we can get you a V2013.19 pre-release.

Thanks, Tom - as always, your customer service is exceptional. I think I will wait for the .19 release, so as not to put unnecessary extra work on your team. I'm in a 2 week lull between board designs, so it can wait, as far as my needs go. Thanks, in any case!
