Is there a resource/spec (or a method in this tool) for properly sizing rectangular pads onto which a specific AWG magnet wire would be attached?  I have a tool (Saturn PCB Toolkit) which gives me the diameter of any AWG so I just need a pad design.

I considered winging it by treating the wire as a MELF SMT part with the pad length L being long (ie, 2mm) but I was wondering if there was any 'better practice'.  Web searching has yielded nothing specific yet.

I have PCB Lib Expert 2013.17

Thanks,

Billy

Billy... we rely on IPC standards for solder joint goals and I don't know of any standard for soldering wires to a SMT pad.

We can't recommend a solution to your issue.
