Library Expert Lite does export 3D STEP for BGA's. Try it.

As for the other component families, the 3D modeling feature has taken us 6 months to develop so far and we still have 2 months more work to complete PTH and backtrack to improve SMT. That's a lot of development to simply give the software away for free.

However, we are developing the "Parts on Demand" (POD) website http://www.pcbpod.com" rel="nofollow - www.pcbpod.com and it will have every 3D STEP model for every component package available for $1 each.

You can earn credits by uploading 3D models (or schematic symbols & PCB library parts) to be able to download different schematic symbols, PCB library parts or 3D models for free by using your credits. So theoretically you never have to purchase anything, just participate in building POD content.

The 3D model section of POD will include various versions of the same component package with a rating system on each version so that you can determine which one you want to download. i.e.: people will be able to upload 3D models created by "PCB Library Expert" or created in PRO-E and SolidWorks or any other 3D modeling tool.

PCB Libraries, Inc. believes in providing an affordable high quality PCB library solution to the electronics industry for symbols, footprints, 3D models and anything else like ANSI/ISO title blocks, fabrication and assembly drawing drafting details, standard notes, mounting hardware and much more.

We've been working on the POD website for over 2 years and it's almost ready for release.

Thank you for your reply,Tom. I like the 3D modeling feature in PCB library, and I appreciate the free software from PCB Libraries, Inc. , best wish to Library Expert!
