Hello,

I was watching for the first time the new tool integrated in the PCB Library expert software  called: FP Designer and i was wondering what were the limitations of this tool? can i use it to make complex or irregular shaped custom footprints??? or can it only make circular/ rectangular based footprints?

Thanx

Using the "Footprint Designer", you can create almost any PCB library part in the industry as long as you either have the through-hole lead size or the SMT pad size.

The Footprint Designer allows you to place PTH and SMD pads on any grid with any pin name.

Once you save the new part to an FPX file, you can upload it to the "Parts on Demand" (POD) website so that other users don't have to recreate the part and you get credits for uploading parts that allow you to download parts that you need.

You can make this footprint but you would probably want to do it without the silkscreen or courtyard.

Can a footprint like this be done in the PCB Library Expert FP Designer?

This part is a unique one-of-a-kind footprint and would probably be built in the native CAD tool and then translated to every CAD tool and made available in the native CAD format.

This is about as non-standard as you can get.
