Hi. I was wondering how I can use my version 2014 user and default preferences with the new 2015 version.  Trying to open them says it is incompatible with the current version.

I can't seem to find any info on doing this and I don't want to redo them from scratch.    Can anyone help?

The header in the V2015 .DAT file is 2014 so everything should work OK.
Send us your Default .DAT file.

I would not use "USER Preferences" as they will eventually be removed from the program and only Default Preferences will be available.

2014 and 2015 formats are identical.
Send your file to Nick, Tom or Jeff and we'll take a look at it.

Thanks for the reply.

I looked again.  Just to clarify, it turns out I can import the preferences for the User Preferences - Default Preferences Source but when I select the User Preferences - User Preferences Source it gives me the warning.

Are you saying I should just ignore the User Preferences Source setting and leave it at default(install path\PCB Libraries\Library Expert 2015\UserPreferences.dat)?  The settings in UserPreferences.dat wil not affect anything anymore?  If not then I'm good, but if it does then I might have some issues.

I find the preference setups to be confusing, I'm glad to hear one will be going away. Smile

Chris

Do not try to load User Preferences into Default Preferences or you will get a Warning Message that you cannot do that.

I'm saying that in a future release that User Preferences will be removed because no one uses them. Having 2 sets of preferences causes 50% of our technical support issues. So we're just supporting "Default Preferences" in the future.

In the Setup Preferences > Design tab set your Density Level to Nominal and use the 3-Tier library system. User Preferences are only 1-Tier.
