Test drive of the calculator is going well so far. Have only found a couple of issues that I would like to see addressed:
Component Orientation: We need a way to set the default orientation on the decals. We currently use the Mentor LPW and all of our component geometries are current aligned with Piin 1 being in the upper left of the decal. FE has Pin 1 in the lower left. If we cannot set default orientation then we would have to go in and change the orientation on several hundred 3D models which will prevent us from switching calculators. Our management would be very unhappy if we told them we would have to change all the models. Solder Paste Screen setting should be either +/- (current) or a percentage. We reduce our footprints to 90% for the paste screen and would like to have this capability on the FE as well. Thanks! |

You can change both the "User Preferences" or the "Default Preferences" and change any component family Zero Component Orientation to place Pin 1 any where you want.
To change the program "Default Preferences" select "Setup > Default Preferences > Component > Surface Mount > BGA > Orientation (pin 1) > UP > Apply Changes > then select the next component family > Orientation (pin 1) > UP > Apply Changes > then select the next component family and repeat until all component familes are rotated. After you're completed, Select File > Save AS > Your .dat file Name > close the Default Editor. Select "Setup > User Preferences > replace Default Preferences File (dat) > with your new .dat file". I created an IPC-7351B .dat file that you can use to test and edit in the Default Preferences menu. Here is the IPC-7351B .dat file - IPC-7351B_DefaultPreferences.zip As far as the Paste Mask "Percentage" this is a future feature. Tom |
