Is there a way to add a bottom-side keepout to the padstack automatically for each PTH?

We need a 3mm radius from pin center for selective soldering nozzle on all PTH pins.

We will add "Keepout - Bottom Side" to FP Designer in the V2017.11 pre-release tomorrow.

You will have to edit the pad stack to include that layer and set the size value.

You can move all Through-hole calculator parts to FP Designer except TO-92 and TO-220.

Wave soldering is a complex process involving many variables and design factors and their interactions.

However, the selective wave solder process uses a product-specific pallet to shield the SMT components on the bottom side of the board, with apertures to expose the PTH components’ pins to the wave solder.

Right now you can add regular circular, square or rectangle Keep-outs to the Bottom Side in both the Standard Calculator parts and FP Designer.

If you add the Bottom Side Keep-out to the Pad Stack it has all options turned on (Placement, Vias, Copper Pour, Traces, etc.) and no way to control it.

I'm asking the programmer to just default to "Placement Height 0" for Pad Stacks only or add additional controls.

But for right now, just add regular Bottom Side keep-outs under the pins so you can control the "Placement Height 0" option until we can figure out how to control a pad stack keep-out.

Yes but we only use a handful of CM's due to the low volume nature of what we build.  All of our CM's utilize mini wave nozzles and we have a generic 3mm from pin center rule that works for all shops and want to build that into the library.  I am tired of re-spinning a board because someone "forgot" to check the clearance prior to releasing Gerbers.  :)

Update! The programmer in charge of "Preferences" is currently adding a new preference to the Terminals > Through-hole section to add "Bottom Side Keepout" with a 3.00 mm default value that is user definable.

This new feature will be applicable to both Calculator and FP Designer parts to auto-generate Bottom Side placement keepouts.

The new feature should be ready by Friday or Monday in the next V2017.11 pre-release for everyone to test.

Thank you for requesting this new feature.

What is the 3.0mm default?  Radius, diameter or height?  We were looking for 3.0mm radius ... Wink

3.00 mm radius beyond the pad size.

So if the Pad Size diameter = 2.00 mm the Keepout diameter would be 8.00 mm.

Always 3.00 mm annular ring greater than the pad size, but that value is user definable.

The 3.00 mm is just the default setting.
