Hi

I feel you need to address the internet traffic issues

In the afternoon in the UK, we get a massive slow down to what ever is running the advertisments

Which makes the whole thing just unusable

Ither the software needs to check less often , or cache the adverts a bit

at the moment , its just unusable

Cheers

Sorry Nick

we are now having another bad day, if the internet connection is slow, the wait for the ad's to load just kills the whole idea.

If its the same for everyone , people will start to look elsewhere.

Ads are fine and help provide this, but maybe you need to look at downloading a set all at onve , and cycle through them , and just check the internet connection every 10 minutes or so.

Needs a radical rethink maybe

Cheers

John

We're currently performing some server updates, which is likely affecting the speed.
We temporarily modified the interval between ads, hopefully that helps offset the lag.

I'm curious on why you use the Free Library Expert Pro with Banner Ads and very limited features, when you can upgrade to an Enterprise Lease and save 80% of the cost for your CAD tool and get Free 3D STEP for a year?

Library Expert Enterprise allows you to set over 1,000 Preferences and you can save all your package dimensions in the Library Manager and Batch build 100's of parts at once and access Footprint Designer for all your Connectors and non-standard parts.

What CAD tool do you use?

Hi Tom

We use orcad PCB, PADS PCB , and Altium  , and need step output

and although the 80% of purchase price on a yearly basis is a good offer

if you need multitool output , it ramps up rather quickly ( year 2 we would pay 4 x the 80% discounted price)

We have a pretty vast library now , so we don't us  the tool anywhere as much as we used to , and can cope with the limitations.

We did original have a proper copy of the LP gererator before it got sold to mentor ( who are rubbish at keeping thigs upto date)

We're releasing the 100% rewrite V2021.01 next month and it will be the next generation of PCB library automation for many years to come. All our development will go into the new release and V2019 and V2020 will be unplugged from the internet.

V2019 LE Pro will be unplugged next Sunday October 18 and V2020 LE Pro will be unplugged when V2021 is released.

The new V2021 Footprint Expert POD is what you'll have to upgrade to. This will require a $299 yearly subscription to the brand new PCBPOD.com, and it will support all CAD tools and 3D STEP and have all features turned on except the ability to calculate new footprints. The POD version is 100% dependent on getting all your parts from our 3 million part database. Or you can request new parts if we don't have what you are looking for.

The new V2021 Footprint Expert Pro will only support 12 low end CAD tools (not OrCAD PCB or Altium), and it will have every feature turned on.

However, PADS Layout is in the new Pro via Dip Trace, Proteus and Pulsonix. PADS p/d files can be imported into Altium, OrCAD PCB and PADS Layout.

What gives you that incorrect impression? Year 1 lease is same as cost of maintenance, and year 2 is same as cost of maintenance, so are years 3, 4 and so on. Cost doesn't go up 4x; other than the free 3D STEP for the first year for new customers only, you only pay for 3D STEP the second year if you want it.

Bottom line is maintenance is 20% the cost of a new license, and that 20% cost is the cost of lease year after year. Doesn't go up other than for minor adjustments. Worth noting, 2019 to 2020, the maintenance cost actually went DOWN - Altium was $330/year and it went to $299/year.
