Now we create component assembly shapes only as an outline shape with refdes.
There is an option in LE to create shapes with Pads and Tabs on Assembly.

I there a standard on how an assembly shape should look like?
With or without Pads and Tabs on the assembly shape?

Every component family in the Calculator has the option of turning Pads On Assembly to 3 different options -

  1. None
  2. Filled
  3. Outline

It's located in the "Settings" tab next to the "Dimensions" tab.

In "Setup > User Preferences > Component > Surface Mount > Component Family" you can set up your preferences to be default whatever you want.

I have found the settings but I was wondering what people use in the library they create or use.
None or Filled or create the shape with outline pads.

I thought, maybe there is some standard about how the pads should look like on assembly.

I there a way to create a poll with this question?

I use filled if I'm going to create only PDF files for Assembly and Outline if I intend to print them on a printer.

I only use Pads on Assembly for larger parts and not on Chip or Molded Body because I want the Ref Des inside the closed polygon.

Some people put Pads on Assembly on every part and then move the ref des outside the outline if there is a pad / text collision.

It's a user option.
