I have modified both my Default & User Pref files (though I do not want to modify the Default, but did so for testing purposes) to reflect my desired courtyard spacing for "Rectangular End Cap" <= 1.6 (which I want @ 0.15) and no matter what number I put in there smaller than 0.25 it ignores. It's like the "built-in" pref file is overriding my user & default pref files which I have the tool pointing to from my pref.dat file. However if I make my User Pref value larger than the 0.25 value than the rule is followed.
Note: At this point I have only tested this on "Rectangular End Cap", since at this point this is the only one I need to modify smaller. But please assume all others are also suspect. |

First, I hope you are using the V2014.06 release because I cannot reproduce your issue with that version. In User Preferences there are now 4 different versions to allow you more flexibility for smaller and smaller Chip components. You need to make sure that you adjust all of them. |

Tom,
Yes I have the most recent version with 4 types, that was one of the reasons I am going thru this. Before I was manually pulling the courtyard in once I did the export to my EDA tool. But no matter the settings it is still making the courtyard 0.25 larger than the pad edge extent I have it set as follows: |

Very nice! I like those settings. In running my tests, Whenever I change the User Preferences and save (Done), the program auto-resets the values back to the original only for the < 1.0 mm and < 0.5 mm The < 1.6 mm and >= 1.6 mm are working OK. We get this issue fixed ASAP and release V2014.07 today. |

I have also just discovered that my preference files are being ignored completely at the top of the user config setup screen (I have purposely put them on our company network so I have full control,
no matter the version of PCB Libraries. When a new release is installed
I do a line by line compare between my version and the one in the
install path to make sure I have all the latest updates for newly added
functionality, but still keep my custom settings otherwise). Even though I am pointing at my files the tool is still only loading and displaying the ones that are in the install path. I have copied mine to the install path and overwritten the existing ones. I then at least get my info to display when I open up the Setup Preferences.
Still even with the overwrite the original problem remains from my earlier post of it not following the courtyard excess value set in the preference file. |

Are you using "User" or "Default" preferences? User creates a 1-Tier library system. Default creates a 3-Tier library system, but you need to create a custom Default Preference file for that. If you are using "User" preferences then in the "Setup > Design > Surface Mount Environment" must be set to "User". If this is not the case then we need to take this off-line and do a webcast after you install V2014.07 which will be released soon (today). |

I do have one comment to make so that when we do release V2014.07 you'll know what to expect for the Micro-miniature Chip component family. The new Courtyard Excess values that you are changing (like 0.10 mm for the 01005 package) will be affected if you have silkscreen outlines. There is a rule that all silkscreen outlines must be inside the courtyard and thus the program will automatically push the courtyard out if it needs to meet this rule. The silkscreen outline has a higher priority than the courtyard. Hopefully, once all code is validated and approved V2014.07 will be released tonight. |

Thanks Tom,
I have downloaded the Pre-Release of 2014.07, and it has fixed the Courtyard Excess issue. |

You need to download the official release as even more bugs were fixed. http://www.pcblibraries.com/forum/library-expert-201407-released_topic1393.html |
