    <![CDATA[<strong>Author:</strong> <a href="https://www.PCBLibraries.com/forum/member_profile.asp?PF=16542">thomas.yunghans</a><br /><strong>Subject:</strong> KiCad Option Files<br /><strong>Posted:</strong> 29 Oct 2023 at 4:07pm<br /><br />Hello,<div><br></div><div>I'm been generating Kicad footprints for about a year.&nbsp; However, I was listening to your user manual videos and saw that you referenced a couple of option files in one of those videos that relate to Kicad (KiCad.opt and KiCad_Translate_.opt).&nbsp; Do I need to do something with those option files before generating Kicad footprints?&nbsp; I see that the "KiCad_Translate_.opt" is automatically listed in the dialog that pops up when I select "Build Footprint".&nbsp; Does that mean I don't need to do anything with that option file?&nbsp; What about the "KiCad.opt" file?&nbsp; Do I need to load that manually?&nbsp;</div><div><br></div><div>Thank you!</div>]]>

The necessary information is loaded through the "Netlist" created in "Eeschema". The user can design 2, 4, 6, ..up to 16 (?) layer PCB using Pcbnew.</div><div>The final outcome of Pcbnew is a set of gerber files which one can send to PCB manufacturing vendor to get the finished PCBs.</div><div><br></div><div>I am afraid, this is an extremely brief decription of a very sophisticated but a very useful tool with a multitude of features.&nbsp;</div><div>Best regards</div><div>anfaenger</div>]]>
