Hello,

I'm been generating Kicad footprints for about a year.  However, I was listening to your user manual videos and saw that you referenced a couple of option files in one of those videos that relate to Kicad (KiCad.opt and KiCad_Translate_.opt).  Do I need to do something with those option files before generating Kicad footprints?  I see that the "KiCad_Translate_.opt" is automatically listed in the dialog that pops up when I select "Build Footprint".  Does that mean I don't need to do anything with that option file?  What about the "KiCad.opt" file?  Do I need to load that manually?

The new 100% rewrite V2021 Footprint Expert will resolve all issues. It's release date is November 1. 

We're not fixing any bugs in the old V2019 which will be taken offline in a month.

The footprint you are looking for is a simple 16-pin 1.27 mm pitch SOIC. 

You can insert the package dimensions and build the part out to 25 CAD tools and 3D STEP using the Free V2020 Library Expert Pro.

Hi,

I'm new to Pcb Libraries, so I don't know if I'm doing something wrong. I downloaded the recent version of Library Expert Pro 19, and tryed to make a footprint for Kicad. But when I finish it, my only option is to generate a 3D Step file. Am I missing something?

I've run into the same issue.

Library Expert Enterprise Edition (2019.07).

Also, the keepouts for the NPTH holes are not carried through to KiCad either.

As an example, check Segger 8.06.16

Hello All,
I am looking for a footprint for the HX711 Loadcell Amplifier Module/weighing sensor.I am not very good at drawing a footprint. Would anyone know where i could find one ?

Preferences > Drafting > Courtyard > Include Origin Crosshair (uncheck the button) 

This feature is in "Library Expert Enterprise", not KiCad. 

But if you are using "Library Expert Pro" then you can turn off the Centroid crosshair in the Calculator Dimension panel > Drafting > Courtyard > Include Origin Crosshair (uncheck the button). 

LE Pro is the Free Version.

Hi Tom H,
Pcbnew is just one module in KiCad design tool. 
After the user has completed the circuit design in "Eeschema" (the circuit design module in KiCad), assigned the foorprints to all components used in the circuit and created a Netlist one can proceed to Pcbnew.

Pcbnew is a module for "placement and routing" of circuit components. The necessary information is loaded through the "Netlist" created in "Eeschema". The user can design 2, 4, 6, ..up to 16 (?) layer PCB using Pcbnew.
The final outcome of Pcbnew is a set of gerber files which one can send to PCB manufacturing vendor to get the finished PCBs.

I am afraid, this is an extremely brief decription of a very sophisticated but a very useful tool with a multitude of features.
