SOPs are Metric Pin Pitch packages and they have a Pin 1 Dot.

SOICs are Imperial Unit Pin Pitch packages with a Body Chamfer all along the Pin 1 edge.

This discriminates SOPs from SOICs.

This package is not a Metric Pin Pitch SOP. The Package Marking has a Dot and no chamfer on the body.

It is a 50 mil (1.27 mm) pin pitch SOIC. These packages were introduced in the early 1980's when the package had a 45 degree chamfer all along the Pin 1 edge. No Polarity Dot.

You need to know the difference between Imperial and Metric pin pitch packages.

We have no plans on changing this polarity marking concept that been around for the past 35 years.

Thanks alot Tom
1-i don't want change things, just asking if it pin 1 dot can be added along with chamfur so 3D can be matched with the real parts
2- can add more details for other packges which have same concept

The Body Chamfer and the Dot distinguishes the difference between SOP and SOIC.

We have no intention on changing this feature.
