Is there a reason why PTH use maximum dimension while SMD uses nominal dimension for outline mapping and footprint naming?

Would it be possible to add an option for PTH to use nominal instead of maximum?

It's because at the time we created the calculator, most manufacturers only provided Maximum body dimensions for most Through-hole component packages.

A spot check of data sheets shows this is still the case.

There's also the practical reason to provide a more realistic and consistent graphic representation of the terminal relationships to the body for SMD parts because of tighter sizes and tolerances.
