Pantheon does a fantastic job at importing PADS Layout Library data.

You're really going to like our new "PCB Footprint Expert" that produces every version of PADS Layout in .p & .d format or ASCII format.

Look for the free PCB Footprint Calculator coming June 11 here - http://www.pcblibraries.com" rel="nofollow - www.pcblibraries.com

The IPC-7351 "PCB Footprint Calculator" does not require registration, login or yearly maintenance and you get free auto-updates.

Hi Tom,

I am wondering if the new "PCB Footprint Expert" and "PCB Footprint Calculator" are the same or only the Calculator is free of charge? We use Mentor Expedition flow and whether it support importing or exporting to Mentor?

Thanks,

Nightwish

The exporting function will only be available with the Expert, and initially it will be only for PADS. However, we expect to expand to other 'high-demand' CAD formats soon after the initial release.

These are the CAD tools that we know can easily import PADS Library files -
  • Altium
  • Pantheon
  • Pulsonix
  • Expedition
  • CADSTAR
  • PADS Layout

We will create direct interfaces to other CAD tools like Allegro, OrCAD, Eagle, P-CAD.

There never will be a direct interface to Expedition due to Encryption and Altium due to the lack of support from Altium. But both these tools do a great job at importing PADS data.
