In Preferences you can choose to use either the IPC-7351B or C Land Pattern Naming Convention. It's in the Console > Design tab

If you use "C" you can regenerate all your footprint names in your FPX file in the Library Editor > Tools > Regenerate Library > Names

Yes, the Extended Names were approved by the IPC Land Pattern Committee for IPC-7351C.

I just tried "C" it generated different names than the extended names we previously generated. Now we wind up with yet another set of different footprint names. Any way to go back to the previous naming convention ?

The Extended Names were adopted by IPC Land Pattern committee, but they also wanted to relocate the Pin Qty to the beginning of the land pattern name.

We no longer support "Extended Names" as they were just a place holder until the IPC committee finalized and approved a new naming convention.

You can go back to IPC-7351B, but that does not have Extended Names.

Or you can edit the Footprint Name to whatever name you want.

Would it be possible to add a program flag so when you load a footprint from the existing library it keeps the same footprint name from the library. At least this way we can update existing footprints without changing the name.
