Consider adding an ability to use custom shapes in FP Designer.

Strictly rectangular and rounded shapes are not very common, most of the time they are more complex.

One way of defining shape could be done importing DXF file or alike.

The biggest advantage of this feature would be an ability to have precise silkscreen legend outline.

You should download V2015.10 - http://www.pcblibraries.com/downloads" rel="nofollow - www.pcblibraries.com/downloads

You can now do multiple options with the Corner Style in FP Designer.

The way I read Fiaduu's post, it sounded like a suggestion for user-defined body outline shapes in FP Designer. The current body shape options are limited to None, Rectangle and Round.

This would be a great feature.

We plan on starting a Library Expert total re-write this June - November for our V2016.01.

It will have many new features like this.

We will scan the entire "Product Suggestions" forum for ideas to implement into the rewrite.

Every 3 years, every CAD vendor should rewrite their software from scratch.

Importing from a DXF is a great idea, this is something I thought would have already been incorporated in to this software package. I like all of the features of this software but what would make it most useful to me is having the ability to take a DXF version of the footprint and import it. I am able to generate a dxf from a data sheet that has a scaled image of the correct footprint pattern.

I am looking to avoid having to create all pads and arrays from scratch. This capability is already built in to the PCB layout package that I currently have. The PCB package that I currently have allows for importing shapes for Pads but it will only let me do one at a time.

My hope is to be able to import an entire footprint from a dxf and assign pin properties to each shape.
