I don't see a way to create a 3D model of a vertical shrouded header that has the polarization key notch in it.  Here is an example of what I can create with the 3D Step generator:

This is what I would like to create:

Ribbon cables use the polarizing notch to make sure the cable is orientated properly.  I'd like to be able to show people the orientation of the headers when I make a 3D rendering of my PCB in Altium.  Is there a way to include a notch?

Thanks!

Greg

The Library Expert models do not have a lot of Cut Extruded features as the component manufacturer does not provide dimensional data for the Length & Width size of the cutouts.

And we never know how short or tall the body will be to guess what the cutouts should be.

If I want a real fancy connector, I request it on Parts on Demand and Request a Part - http://www.pcblibraries.com/POD" rel="nofollow - www.pcblibraries.com/POD

You can request any Schematic Symbol in any format and any SolidWorks 3D SLDPRT model or STEP version.

Thanks Tom.  How about "Header, Receptacle"?  "Header, Right Angle Receptacle" is an option, but not a straight vertical version.  Another minor issue is that the tail length is not an option for any of the headers.  It isn't just an aesthetic thing.  The tail is important because one of the big reasons for using 3D models is to visually see if there are any issues.  If someone happened to use a thicker board, they would see that the tail was too short for soldering to.  Also, connectors like stacking PC/104 cannot be generated if the tail length can't be specified.

Thanks,

Greg

Parts on Demand and Request a Part are there for you to submit your request for any type of PCB library part in the world.

Why spend time creating library parts when you can purchase the FPX file for a buck or two?

This also includes highly customized 3D SLDPRT and STEP models.
