Hi, Is it possible to create a portable PCB Library Expert version? Now I have to install it on my system. If I got a portable version I can copy it on my USB-drive. Thanks, Wim.

I wouldn't be interested in a portable version as I would simply swap the dongle between installations, however I would be interested in an Android app version for my new toy, an Asus 7" nexus tablet. I would like have the facility to view existing FPX files on the tablet and show people when I'm away from my desk. This would be nice as a "free" product. I wouldn't have any problem with small advertising on this type of product. It might be useful to be able to create new libraries and save parts in those libraries on the fly but I wouldn't expect that from a free product. It'd be nice to see that included free with the main PC product but if the cost were a few quid in the app store I wouldn't be complaining. I wouldn't want any CAD output on a tablet version.

A portable edition is also system friendly. No files in Windows directories and extra registry entries. I want to keep my system as clean as possible.

Having the portable installation on the same USB security dongle might be nice. That way the license follows the program and vice versa.

SafeNet is moving toward this direction with the new Sentinel version, if we implement this it will likely be no sooner than next year. We're also looking at cloud-based licensing alternatives, such as Altium uses.
