Hi,
I was wondering if anyone is aware of a class/seminar that teaches good modern PCB design for experienced PCB designers in a tool agnostic manner? My background is that I am an electrical engineer with a strong circuit design background, and I've been laying out PCBs for more than 10 years. I have no formal education in PCB design. Everything I know is self-taught or learned from other designers. I would like to fill in the gaps and unlearn things that are outdated or wrong. Here's what I would be looking for: Current best practices. Old design practices and myths that should be abandoned. Current relevant standards. The modern PCB manufacturing process. PCB cost drivers / cost reduction Any recommendations? --John

Both the IPC CID and CID+ courses have been updated to today's technology. There are still a few things that we used to do 20 years ago but that's history stuff. I challenge all PCB designers to take these course and pass the tests with a 90% + grade score. My son Luke is taking his CID+ test this weekend and he's doing a lot of studying for the past month. |

Yes I have and yes I found it very useful as a few of my preconceived notions were in need of "correction".

I would also recommend Susy Webb's "Designing with your 'Thumbs' workshop class.

It gives me great pleasure to introduce our new LIVE online training platform for PCB designers and engineering specialists. At www.tracksandgaps.com you get the chance to meet the world's great experts and to connect with them in real time. Learn from the best and ask them real-life technical questions on issues that you may be experiencing right now with your electronics designs. This is a rare opportunity to connect with experts who has many valuable decades of experience. They have "burnt their fingers" and have seen what works and what doesn't, so that you and I can get it right the first time.
Looking forward to seeing you "LIVE" and to hear your experiences as we build the PCB and electronics design community to make great things. |
