Hi All,
I've created an Altium script that automatically generates 3D bodies based on the 3D outline as exported by FPE, and the height in the IPC filename. Although they are a little simpler I strongly prefer this over step files, since they are much lighter to handle (especially for big boards). I'm releasing it here under Attribution-ShareAlike 3.0 United States: http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0/us/ Everything is provided as-is and is not affiliated with PCB Libraries in any way. Download: Instructions: - Build and Import your library as you would normally do. - Make sure the attached FPETools is opened in Altium - Open up the newly created Lbrary - Click DXP -> Run Script -> CreateBodyFromOutline - Save the library Best regards, Joris |

Thanks, Joris.
We're currently working on a more advanced 3D translator to STEP. An initial version (BGA only) is planned for release with version 2013, and the remainder of the component families over the course of the next several months. Nick |

Hi Joris,
I believe many Altium users would be pleased if you could share your script at: https://code.google.com/p/altium-designer-addons Craig, AMTELCO |

Regardless what Joris says, can you mention the 3D STEP output? There is no need to purchase the software to create the BGAs.
