Could you please share the document that Footprint Expert uses for the Through-hole Naming Convention? 

I found some examples not found in shared document like the attached Varistor:

The Naming Convention and many other documents and free FPX files are located here: 


However, IPC-7352 does not cover every component family in the industry. That was intended for IPC-7351C which never got released. 

PCB Libraries added all the standard packages to Footprint Expert.

I checked the document but I can't find examples like Variators in it.

You will not find all the standard packages in the IPC-7352 guideline.

Here's an example of what you will not find for Chip Packages:
  1. Antenna
  2. Choke
  3. Crystal
  4. Ferrite Bead
  5. Filter
  6. Fuse
  7. LED
  8. Thermistor
  9. Varistor
I think you're asking us to add all the missing through-hole component families in IPC-7352 guideline to our Naming Convention document. 

The reason why we don't is because we would have to rename the document from IPC-7352 to PCB Libraries.

Just we need naming conventions tool used for these packages 
You can share document for this with name you prefer so users can know

The Footprint Naming Convention for all Chip packages is the same format. 

Component Family Abbreviation + Package Type + Body Length X Body Width X Height + Lead Width. 

Component Family Abbreviations:
  • ANT - Antenna 
  • CAP - Capacitor
  • CAPP - Capacitor, Polarized
  • CHOKE - Choke
  • XTAL - Crystal
  • DIO - Diode
  • DION - Diode, Non-polarized
  • BEAD - Ferrite Bead
  • FLTR - Filter
  • FUS - Fuse
  • IND - Inductor
  • LED - Light Emitting Diode
  • RES - Resistor
  • THRM - Thermistor
  • VAR - Varistor
Package Types:
  • C - Chip
  • M - Molded Body
  • DFN - Dual Flat No-lead
  • MELF - Metal Electrode Leadless Face 
  • SC - Side Concave
  • AD - Axial Diameter
  • RR - Radial Rectangle
