In BGA: The Courtyard Place Round-off default setting is 0,10 mm

In QFP: The Courtyard Place Round-off default setting is 0,01 mm

Are these settings similar or no?

If no, why will rounded Courtyard Size in BGA, and Courtyard Place in QFP?

Thanks for any reply.

The Courtyard Excess setting for BGA's are much more robust than other component packages.

The BGA Courtyard Excess is determined by the Ball Diameter.

However, the end user has 100% control of all the values in Preferences. i.e.: the user can change any default value in the program to fit your requirements.

All the default values in Preferences are simply a recommendation and not a "Standard".

Change the values to whatever you want for your personal custom library creation.

Hi Tom,

thanks for pointing that out.
It would be nice though, to be able to save a value for the Courtyard Excess in the Preferences file for BGA, CGA and LGA components.
A larger Courtyard Excess for Grid Array components is desirable for optical inspection e.g. with an endoscope like the Ersascope.

In Preferences, there is a different courtyard setting for each terminal lead diameter and the user can create as many Terminal Lead Diameters as they want.

Go to "Preferences > Terminals > SM Grid Array's > BGA, LGA or CGA" and there are tables for the various Lead Diameter's and each one has a separate Courtyard Excess.
