I'm surprised this hasn't come up before but it would be good to have Surface Mount Headers added to the Surface Mount section of Library Expert Lite.

99% of Surface Mount connectors come with mfr. recommended pad sizes and spacing.

That's why we created FP Designer and it's only available in Library Expert Pro.

Please send us a datasheet of a Surface Mount connector with enough component dimensions to auto-calculate an IPC-7351 land pattern and we'll definitely take a look at it.

Thanks for the response. I appreciate that there are recommended footprints, but a system to place pads by pitch and separation (in dual row headers) with assembly outlines automatically would be well received I feel. I appreciate the work that goes into the program though and it is already an invaluable tool.

There are very good feature controls to automatically place SMT pads by row and pitch using numeric or alpha-numeric pin names. I highly recommend that you watch a couple videos here - http://www.pcblibraries.com/forum/product-demo-training_forum35.html" rel="nofollow - http://www.pcblibraries.com/forum/product-demo-training_forum35.html

Also, there is a new V2016.09 pre-release available here - http://www.pcblibraries.com/downloads" rel="nofollow - www.pcblibraries.com/downloads  that allows you to create footprints in the Calculator and move them to FP Designer to access more complex features.

Let us know if you like this new feature.
