The new interface for Mentor tools is EDX and it will be available in V2015.21 in January.

It's taking longer than normal to fully understand and write an EDX interface from scratch.

Now that we are officially in the Mentor Graphics Open Door Program, Mentor is helping us with providing the software and technical support to create the new interface.

Having something weird happening when exporting parts to PADS VX1.2.

The parts come in fine and look good as well. The problem is when I go into 3D view mode PADS crashes or gives me an error "Error while initializing 3D".

Thing is I can export the part to PADS 9.5 then open it up in VX1.2 and everything is fine.

It has nothing to do with the 3D model because at that point the model has not been assigned to that part.

Is anyone else experiencing this?

We just released V2015.21 today and plan on releasing V2016.01 in the next 2 weeks.

The programmer in charge of the PADS interface is off-line next week. He has PADS VX1.2 and will test it out before V2016.01 is released.

Thanks Tom. Did try the new version before I posted and had the same results. For now I will just export to version 9.5.

I do not have PADS VX1.2 installed, but our programmer does.

Keep using PADS V9.5 until our programmer returns the week of February 8.

We might easily find and fix the issue, but it will have to go into V2016.01 as V2015.21 was the last release of the 2015 series.

V2016.01 will be released in February.

Just tested the V2015.21 version for Xpedition VX.1.1 import.
If I choose Encrypted ASCII, I get the error: No executable file found.
Do I have to set some pointers or preferences?

You should have an executable in your main Application directory called EncryptData.exe.

Normal pathing for this would be say:

C:\Program Files (x86)\PCB Libraries\Library Expert 2015

If you don't see this file, uninstall the program, download the latest release and then install it.

Thanks for looking into the 3D mode crashing when going into 3D mode but at this point the issue seems to be mysteriously gone. Just went back and exported the same parts from the land pattern generator and it seems to work. Wasted about three hours the other day trying to figure out why it was not working. Having it work now drives me crazy but that is what is happening. Have the correct license and have been using the 3D feature from the beta release of VX1.2 so do know how to get the tool to work. For now lets assume it was user error, even though I was using the exact same process, or my computer was doing something weird.

Apologize for bothering you.

Thank you for the report.

We get concerned when a CAD tool interface does not work and we can't reproduce the problem.

This is good news for us.

I'm going to archive this post.
