How Do I Find Similar Footprint in FPX?

Hello,

how are you dealing with creating a land pattern which is not existing but you know there are similar one you can copy from and only have to change few things.

Do you have a tip how to find a similar footprint easily?

For example I have to create a Atmel 8A2 footprint

- Atmel and 8A2 is not in the installed library
- Jedec drawing number is MO-153 AA , which is also not existing in the installed library

	First off, in the near future we'll have the Atmel 8A2 Footprint list on the "Parts on Demand" website. But in the meantime, you can select "select the Library icon in Main Toolbar > select Open Library icon > select Your FPX File (or SM) > select Categories icon > select SOIC 1.27 mm pitch" - Double Click on SOIC 1.27 mm pitch and the program will automatically remove all other footprints except those that match the search. Then to match the Pin Qty "8" and then the Height "1.75" then double click on any cell in the row to open the component dimensions and see that the values are very similar.

	Hello Tom, thank you for your quick answer. Thats exactly the way I do at the moment. But I have to know it is a SOIC and it has a pitch of 1.27mm Is there no standard Jedec drawing number or package description which I can find quicker or more easily? One thing which directly brings me from a component datasheet to a entry in your list? Am I right, that the Jedec drawing number is not part of your footprint list? Best regards Erwin

	Rule of thumb - All 2-sided IC's that are Imperial (Inch) Pin Pitch (normally larger than 1 mm pitch) are SOIC's. All 2-sided IC's that are Metric Pin Pitch (normally 1 mm or smaller pitch) are SOP's.
