Each time Library Expert is updated, the ManufacturerList.txt file is overwritten. This means that any user-added manufacturer is lost and so must be added again.

Suggest that a way is found to retain user-added manufacturers to avoid the resulting frustration and duplication of work.

For example, create a UserManufacturerList.txt file to which PCB Library Expert writes the user-added manufacturers (and the user may hand-edit, if desired) and when used by the software is 'merged' with ManufacturerList.txt.

I have a better idea.

Report all component manufacturer's to Support@PCBLibraries.com and they will be added to the next release and your component manufacturer's names will never get overwritten.

Thanks! We need to know and add every component manufacturer not only to the software program, but also to the upcoming "Parts on Demand" (POD) search engine website which opens on October 1.

Hi,

Take a look at our site.

There are more than 1000 manufacturers listed.

Great job and impressive list you got! But we're only interested in Component Manufacturers and not Electronic Equipment Manufacturers.

We started our list from Digi-Key, Mouser, Farnell, Arrow and Newark component distributors.

All of our customers can send us their component manufacturer's and we'll add them to the list in the "PCB Library Expert".

We need your help to create a best PCB library tool in the global electronics industry.

Thanks!  Clap

If you take a look in the English site version http://www.pltc.nl/en/links/manufacturers.html you will see that the section is called " Manufacturers".
I think that 99% is a Component Manufacturer.
Some old names are used with the new Manufacturer name in brackets, like Welwyn (TT Electronics)
Maybe you can use it for your database.
Most of the names we have used for our customers in 25 years of PCB design.

This is very good stuff!

We derived the original Component Manufacturer list from Digi-Key, Mouser, Farnell, Arrow and Newark distributors.

Obviously they don't sell every component manufacturer's parts.

One of the challenges we have for the "Parts on Demand" (POD) project is that we need to gather up every component manufacturer's logo. I noticed that you already downloaded most of the logo's. Do you mind sharing them with us to eliminate duplication of effort?

Thanks!
