When did BGA pads on assembly become 2D Lines? What is the purpose? |

I believe all "Pads on Assembly" are 2D-Lines. It's for an assembly drawing. What other option is there? |

PADS Layout has the ability to put the Assembly Layers in the Pad Stack. This is not true for every CAD tool and we needed a solution for every CAD tool. Also, with 2D-Lines you have the option of "Outline" and "Filled" and you can't do that with a pad stack. You have controls over which component family gets Pads on Assembly. This is because there is a Assembly Ref Des that goes inside the closed polygon and you only want both if the part is big to make room for both. I will ask the programmers if they can add Pads to Assembly in the pad stack for PADS Layout. |
