Hi, Chris. We ran a test with the currently released version (2017.22), and couldn't replicate this issue. Let's connect offline and see if we can get this issue resolved.

Forgot to mention that you can also manually edit the ConsolePreferences.dat file to select the read only preferences file.  Still would like to be able to do it from the user interface.

Hi,

Our company keepsa single preferences file on a server that every user accesses as read only.  We do not want people changing thesettings.   I’m not sure when the behavior changed, I knowit was not a problem with version 2017.12, but you can no longer select theread only file.  When exiting it says thepreferences have changed do you want to save, select yes and It wants to accessthe unchanged read only file and gives the error “Unable to save”.  This was never a problem before and it wasonly noticed because a user had to reinstall from scratch.   Why does it need to access the preferencesfile when selecting it?

It seems the only option now is to install an older versionof the tool (we start with 2017.12) which allows read only files to be selected, selectthe read only preferences file, then upgrade to the latest version.  There must be a better way to handlethis.  I would think site control shouldbe possible.

Can the use of read only preference files be returned to thesoftware?
